Avastor, a manufacturer of AV storage solutions, introduced a line of SDX portable hard disk drives for the professional and prosumer markets.
Each of the SDX-line drives comes with an external 3-amp grounded DC power supply that auto-senses 90- to 240-volts, for compatibility with an IEC power cord. They also have a quiet cooling fan for heat dissipation, and power and activity light. The SDX drives are also available in an anodized aluminum design for reliable connectivity, performance, and durability, says the company. The power adapter for an SDX drive uses extra-heavy gauge wire plus a heavy-duty connector with oversized pins for 5 VDC and 12 VDC.
"The SDX hard disk drives are designed to exceed the requirements of demanding users," explains Avastor president Steve Smith. "Whether you are storing uncompressed high-definition digital video, multi-track high-resolution audio, mega-pixel digital photography, or any application that requires maximum throughput, the Avastor SDX meets the challenge."
SDX hard drives are available in three models: SDX 200 with USB 2.0; SDX 400 with FireWire 400 and USB 4.0; and SDX 1000 with FireWire 400, 800, eSATA, and USB2.0. All have a choice of 80GB, 160GB, 250GB, 500GB, 750GB, or 1TB capacities.
The eSATA technology offers 3Gbps performance in a single drive configuration for data-intensive applications that use real-time video editing.
