Dishwasher Loading Tips
(NC)—With an endless number of possible arrangements, it's no wonder dishwasher loading is a hotly contested topic. Of course, it's true that the way a dishwasher is loaded can dramatically affect how clean dishes will come out, but equally important is the dishwasher detergent used.
“A properly loaded dishwasher is one key to getting flawless dishwashing results,” says Corrie Mueller, senior brand manager at Reckitt Benckiser (Canada) Inc., the makers of Finish dishwasher detergent. “Another very important factor to consider is the type of detergent you use. It's amazing how often people underestimate the difference a high-quality dish detergent can make to their dishes. That's why we launched Quantum. It's our new detergent tab that uses advanced, multi-chamber technology to ensure dishes are left sparkling clean and with a brilliant shine every time.”
So, should plates be stacked on the top rack? Why are some vehemently opposed to placing glasses over tines? No need to feel overwhelmed, some helpful loading tips can help ensure great results. More loading tips and tricks can be found online at www.finishdishwashing.ca.

Before you load
• Avoid blockage by scraping off large food particles such as bones, seeds and toothpicks.
• Conserve water and save time by selecting a detergent that does the pre-rinsing for you.
Proper Loading
• Place larger and dirtier items on the bottom rack.
• Place glasses and less soiled items on the top rack.
• Position dishes and utensils with the heavily soiled side facing the source of the water spray - usually at the centre of the dishwasher.
• Stack plates and glasses so they're not touching, and avoid placing glasses over the tines to help prevent chipping.
• Place plastic items away from the heat, so they don't warp or melt. The heating element in most dishwashers is on the bottom.
